Thoughts Big and Small

Why the mystery with Chase Utley?
He played in a Minor league game, and then Charlie said not again till Monday.
He played again on Sunday going 0-2, why the mystery?

5th Starter - Seems Kendrick is out and Corassco is too inconsistent. That leaves Park and Happ who are both pitching well. It is a tough decision, but Park has good numbers in the Bull Pen and Happ has very little experience in the pen. On the other hand Park is doing very well and Happ would be a well needed left-hander in the pen.

Hamels elbow issues - Is it normal spring pain or Hamels hypo-condriac panic? Here's hoping it is either.

Jimmy is looking really good at the classic.

  1. I just read an article that seemed to say that the phils are thinking right now that Park will be their number 5 guy. Happ is very close but Park has a slight edge. Of course the article also said that Kendrick still had a chance because he pitched much better than his line showed in that awful lose to the yankees.

I think the phils would be better suited to have Happ start and Park relieve. Like you said Happ has no bull pen experience and they want him to start. Why make him chance his style of pitching now. And although the phils would like another lefty in the bullpen I don't think that it is entirely necessary. If the rest of the bullpen can pitch about the same as they did last year I don't really see a problem for the time until Romero comes back. Which would be at the point when the team really knows what they need and in what kind of position they are in.

  2. Maybe - But they are beginning to scare me with "Pitching the same as last year". Lidge and Durbin have ONE whole inning pitched this spring. Something is fishy with the injuries.
